Vespri is an artistic reflection on the tension between tradition and modernity, explored through Catalan folklore and reinterpreted through the eyes of a contemporary artist. The project draws inspiration from Cercolets, a Catalan folk dance characterized by the use of hoops held overhead—symbols of unity, play, and collective celebration. With a near-cinematic approach, the choreography “zooms in” on five dancers captured in the moment of preparation preceding the event: their bodies trace images and fragments of non-verbal narrative, creating a physical vocabulary that symbolically represents a suspended, liminal, and delicate interval in time. In a world where technology and progress seem to distance us increasingly from our cultural roots, Vespri seeks to bridge this gap by proposing a new interpretation of folklore—not merely as a relic of the past, but as a living, evolving force.

At the heart of the work lies the idea of ​​revitalizing traditional and ritualistic elements by renewing them with a modern aesthetic; it builds a bridge between past and present, technology and craftsmanship, while exploring how folk dances can be reimagined through a modern sensibility.
